HMCS Haida Crazy Fun

The Haida is super fun, even with a bad win rating so far, the ship performs very good.  Like some of the community contributors have said you need to be very comfortable in close combat with destroyers and you need to be aggressive.  Newer destroyer captains will most likely struggle with Haida, but if you figure it out she is a blast and very deadly.

Learning when to use single fire or group fire is key also using them in groups of two is very effective.  Fire the first two hold then send the second two gives you a better chance to land hits IMO, it has worked for me.

When creeping along in her smoke be careful as it makes it a bit easier for enemy ships to target you in the smoke.  Just keep that in mind with smoke firing at medium to close range.  And speaking of her smoke its easy to glide out of it in reverse, most of the time you should keep moving forward.  Play with the throttle from 1/4 to stop so your not always at the front edge of each puff.

Update to my World of Warships Community Contributor application

The small time show

The Warship Tactics Podcast did not make the cut.  I knew it was going to be a long shot as the subscriber requirement Wargaming is looking for is kind of steep when used to measure a podcast.  They are looking for 1000 subscribers for new CC's channels, that's a high bar to meet in the podcast world.  If the Warship Tactics Podcast could muster 1000 subscribers it would be on par with some very popular shows.

YouTube and Twitch are the big two in the CC world and they don't fit the podcast formula, audio only.  I could probably do the show live stream for at least in video format, but I feel that would only take away and not add to the show in its current state.  I'm going to ask for some feedback from Wargaming to see were the show fall short.  When or if I get some information back I will pass it along as I'm sure some of you will be interested.

Have fun sinking those red ships!

Never Stop Playing For The Win

World of Warships USS Fletcher

Even when the game is going bad and it seems the team is only interested in getting into the next game, you can still have productive games.  Never stop trying to win the game even facing long odds play smart.  In this game I was still trying to kill enemy ships and never stopped playing for the objectives even when it was clear I could not win.  Stay in the fight!

KMS Tirpitz Double Double Strike

 Double Strike x2

Double Strike x2

Wish I had the replay for this game, I still remember when this happened.  This is what happens when people Durp into the Durpitz.  7 torpedo hits and 175 secondary battery hits, the Tirpitz loves to get up close and personal.  The twin twin killings were a NC, Amagi, Bizmarck and Cleveland, the Cleveland was killed with the main battery.  Fun times in the KMS Tirpitz.

Royal Navy Tier 7 Cruiser HMS Fiji

HMS Fiji tier 7 light cruiser fighting in and around the objectives making credits along the way.  12 base defense ribbons and 2 solo capture ribbons earning very good experience with only the top two ships on the winning team with more.  226,265 credits profit is good considering this was a loss, even a non-premium account would have made 112,914 credits profit.  Even when the game is turning against your team salvaging some experience and credit gains is withing reach.

Making Credits in World of Warships

The ability to make credits in World of Warships is possible even in a loss.  You must play the objectives and choose targets based on threat level and ship priority.  Farming one or two big slow ships is not a sound economic strategy nor is ignoring objectives.  The following screen shots are prof of this concept.

508k profit in a loss (274k regular account) by playing the objectives

508k profit in a loss (274k regular account) by playing the objectives

I can't stress enough how important proper target selection and objective play is when trying to earn credits in World of Warships.  If you ignore objectives and farm single ships do not complain if you start losing credits, it's all on you.

Making Credits in World of Warships with Low Damage Total

It's true, you can make credits in World of Warships with low damage numbers.  The trick is playing the objectives.  If you ignore the objectives you are cutting out a good source of credit income.

Not only did I get 1 solo cap and 1 assisted cap, I earned 8 base defense ribbons.  That's a form of playing the objectives and it pays well.

Ending up on the top of the winning team when bottom tier is nothing new for the Fiji.

One of my few games in the Fiji that I had no torpedo hits

Good gunnery skills helps in all tech tree British cruisers, you don't have high explosive ammunition to mask below average gunnery skills.  262 hits for 465 shells fired is an example of how you can still perform with armor piercing ammunition only.

Even a non-premium would have made 130k credits profit

Even a non-premium would have made 130k credits profit

Don't believe posts on the official forum from players who have not figured out the economic mechanics built into World of Warships.  If you only farm damage from big slow ships and never play the objectives you will earn good experience but your credit income will be lacking.

1750 base XP Aigle Mission

HMS Fiji taking down the 1750 base XP Aigle mission.  The Fiji is a true beast that can punch up in class a true dream to drive.  This Aigle mission has been the focus of some salt, by players who feel 1750 base XP is high and should have been lower.  Those players have forgotten about playing the objectives.  Taking and defending capture points rewards very good XP, but players are blinded by the need to put up big damage numbers.

Do you want to earn more XP per game?  If yes, you need to play the objectives.

The Warship Tactics Podcast Studio

Here is the Warship Tactics Podcast studio.  You can see my mic (ATR 2100) with pop filter and wind screen attached.  Below that is the TASCAM MiNiStudio Creator that is used as my audio interface with my computer.

It's a real simple set up, the TASCAM is not required as the ATR 2100 has both XLR and USB connections.  The first 5 episodes were recorded with the ATR plugged into the computer with out the TASCAM.  I have used a TASCAM DR-60D MKII to record a few episodes, but the majority of them are recorded with Audacity.

I plan on doing a video showing how I started the Podcast and why I do/did certain things.  Also, plan on going over my work flow, from show idea to final posting of each episode.  I'm no audio engineer nor have I been trained in audio production or any kind of broadcasting.  An expert I am not, but I feel my method is good enough for now.
